For many high-growth European enterprises it is a common ambition to expand operations to the US and raise later-stage funding there. The US offers the promise of massive commercial opportunities and plentiful venture and growth capital. However, doing business and raising money in an unfamiliar, highly-competitive environment requires thoughtful advance planning and clinical execution. In the MMC portfolio, we have supported many companies in their expansion to the US and we'll be sharing our key learnings.

In this session we will be talking to Bjorn Reynolds, CEO of Safeguard Global, Daniel Glazer, Partner at Wilson Sonsini, and Oliver Richards, Partner at MMC, about the best practices for navigating the logistical aspects of launching and operating a European business in the States, and setting and meeting expectations for US later-stage funding.

They will be answering questions including:

  • Is there a way to test the US market without full commitment?
  • When should a start-up consider establishing US operations?
  • When should a start-up look to raise money from US VCs and what is the best approach to take?
